Bill Laurent has served on the Jackson County Board as the District 9 Supervisor for the Village of Merrillan and Town of Alma since 2022. He is married 26 years to his wife Anita and has one daughter Alena, and one granddaughter Zara.
Bill serves on the following Jackson County Board Committees: Law Enforcement, Economic Development, Industrial, and Large Event Committee. Bill also serves as the Jackson County Board representative for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.
Bill and Anita reside in the town of Alma, and currently own two businesses, Home Town Storage LLC and Laurent Performance Group LLC. Bill serves in several community support and charitable organizations including as the President of the Merrillan Lions Club, the Secretary of the Black River Falls Downtown Association, a Deacon of Countryside Church, the Chairman of the Republican Party of Jackson County, and member of the Alma Center VFW.
Bill is a retired Navy Officer who served 29 years. During the last fourteen years of his Naval carrier, Bill was on special assignment as a government oversight inspector of several nuclear facilities and the Lead Nuclear Engineer of Carrier Programs for the Department of Energy. He supervised the construction or refueling of eight aircraft carriers and several nuclear submarines, and the construction or demolition of many shore-based nuclear facilities. He also supervised the design and construction of the Navy’s new Ford Class Aircraft Carrier, which included the development of state-of-the-art reactor protection computer systems and software programs, and the first use of 13.8kVA electrical power distribution systems on a naval vessel.
